Birthday

I'm writing this as a reflection of my being a year and 3 days older.

3 days ago, I turned a year older. My birthday was rather a usual day for me. I'll go to work, do my routine and see the usual people. But of course, I wanted to deal with it differently. As I have mentioned to a friend who also celebrated his brithday this month--" You only make it special when you want to make it special."-- So, my choice was, I wanted to make it one.

A day before, I gave myself a gray big bag as a birthday gift. My dear mother wanted to give me something so I opted not to make pakipot so I told her I want a pair of rubber shoes.  Geesh, I felt like I was a kid asking for a gift. Anyhoo, it felt good thinking of something you would want as a gift. --I'm still a kid by heart.-- Then, my special day came, I was in a training although I told peole around to greet me since its my birthday. So, I got it.  It really makes me feel good when people I dont even speak with make an effort to greet me.  What's more, the speaker, who I do not even know, anounced that it was my birthday so they had to sing the so passe birthday song for me.  She even gave me a gift-- an aromatherapy inhaler. Really, those felt really really nice really. It has been years since I heard that song being directed to me.

I also got gifts from people I dont expect to. Thanks to Lisa, Ninang and Tita Bernie. You see, when you are not used to being a receiver of gifts, even a small one would really touch your heart. So, thanks to all you again.  You again made the kid in me appreciate like an adult.

Finally, I bought a blueberry cheesecake for myself. Placed a candle on top of it and blew it.  Haay. I miss celebrating as a kid. I wish I had balloons. I actually thought of uying some but I did not find one.

It's really fun to celebrate your birthday even by yourself.  Just making yourself feel special just for a day is nothing but exciting.  No need to shed out big bucks.  Well, that works for a frugal person like me though. *wink*So,  I guess I'd do this more often. Hopefully, more birthdays for me. ☺☺☺

Happy New Year to me, then.
