Today's Yesterday Events

There have been a lot of happenings in the nation nowadays. From these, 2 have significantly affected me.

Filipinos all know that Department of Local and Interior Government Secretary Jesse Robredo has joined the Creator this long weekend.  He was likewise accompanied by his 2 pilots, Capt. Bahinting and Nepalese co-pilot, Chan.  Sec. Robredo’s legal aide, however, fortunately swam out of the drowning plane and continued his fate as a mortal.—With these, Pinoys mourn to the lost of a “good’ public servant. I cannot testify to that but to what I have been reading, I would assume Sec. Robredo did a fairly good job. His name actually didn’t ring that much when I first heard of his early return to the Heavens. Might be because he was not one of those officials people usually hear in the news. And what’s often, if not always, in the news? Bad. So, that’s where I came to my assumption. Anyhoo, I heard he has yet to get his appointment and that the President was responsible for such. Oh well, that’s I guess politics. It’s like a complicated relationship—Why will I give you a label when I can get everything I want even without it? So there. Anyway, regardless of the appointment, it is known not only in Naga nor in the DILG office, that Sec. Robredo is one of the ONES. He is, unfortunately, he was called for his early appointment in a much better place. HE probably needed him there sooner to decide on much bigger things. This time, with a better Boss. J

Aside from the above event, another incident which caught my attention is Mr. Carabuena’s, Philipp Morris International’s (PMI) high-ranking official, mauling, cursing and abusing of Mr. Fabro, a MMDA Officer, during the latter’s call of duty.  Again, based on what I saw in the news, Mr. Fabro was in the moment of apprehending PMI’s officer traffic violation when eventually this PMI bull attacked. He bullied the man in uniform! I don’t exactly know what raged Mr. Carabuena to be on that state of wrath, but putting force on your hand as it gets to somebody else’s skin while cursing is simply not an acceptable thing to do.  I, per se, understand that enforcers are the biggest enemies of drivers out on the streets.  Moreso, drivers argue with these enforcers regardless if they are right or wrong. People would often think that these enforcers are payable of a certain amount, but hey, no amount of money could buy out the misdemeanor showed by Mr. PMI.  I heard he even apologized. Well, that’s the least he could do after all the cyberbullying done to him. I even saw his cellular number posted somewhere in the internet with his home address and personal photos. Who could have initiated such act but probably people who may have known him.—Maybe in the same way we know him now.—I don’t actually know what has happened to Mr. Carabuena now. I heard he got suspended from PMI and requested in his written apology to retract the case filed against him and withdraw the plea to cancel his driver’s license. With that, good luck. I’m actually hearing a big NO from everyone in the street. Oh, I heard one cohort of Mr. Carabuena on Magic 89.9’s Boy’s Night Out. Who is he? Another victim of cyberbullying-i-understand-why. No other than Mr. Chris Lao—the man who crossed the flooded street inspite of seeing cars almost floating somewhere in Manila. “Wala daw sign na baha na.” What kind of rich people are these??? Gaaaahmn.

Days have actually passed.  I still hear news of Robredo’s good deeds.  Mr. Fabro got promoted and donations from good-hearted citizens poured on his newly-renovated home courtesy of his agency. (See what a good job can do?! J)  Carabuena news are rather silent.

So, let me share my piece to each one pf you.

As everyone else has shared their greetings with you, to you Sec. Robredo, thank you for giving Filipinos hope that indeed someone out there is not what people have perceived. Thank you for uplifting the image of the government.  The President may have neglected, purposely(?), your appointment, but as I have compared, you have showed the same even without the label.  Rest in peace together with Captains Bahinting and Chan.

To Mr. Carabuena and the likes of you, you demand a lot from the nation through the government and yet, as an individual, what do you do to persons doing things everyone, including you, demanded for? If we all want to have a progressive nation, then, let us give other people, even those whom we think receive just half of our taxes, the same respect in performing their respective duties.  Conflicts arise from time to time but the hand was not created to resolve such.  I actually don’t know where you got that. And before I forget, shame on you white-collared man! I hope your kids are too.

And to Mr. Fabro, you really have to thank that videomaker.  I don’t have enough knowledge of your performance with the MMDA for 27 years.  What I have though is the 30 second video which made your life suddenly in the movies.  However, I truly believe that a person can be read in times of anger and to my lacknessof proper term- “such situation caught by the video”.  To that I salute you.  A man is never a man just for his money and physique nor his ability to brawl. He is for his ability to keep himself sane inspite of a coming brawl. Good job for keeping that blue uniform clean and that Volvo dusty and rusty. I have hopes that this goodness will bring you more.

I am a government employee. Might be that, so, I am affected by these. But I’m sure countless agrees with me here.
